Add an AI voiceover to a screen recording
You don't have to record your own voice to narrate a screen recording. Type what you want said, pick a voice, and StageMaster speaks it over your video.
Why use an AI voice
Recording a voiceover is often the slowest part of a screen recording. You need a quiet room, a good microphone and many tries. When the product changes, you record it again.
With an AI voice, the voiceover is text. Change a word, and only that line is voiced again, in the same voice.
How to do it
- Get your recording into StageMaster. Record your app in StageMaster, or import a video you already have with ⌘I.
- Type your lines. One sentence per line, each placed where it should be heard.
- Pick a voice. There are 54, in nine languages. You can give each line its own voice.
- Voice the lines. StageMaster makes the audio on your Mac and puts each line on the timeline, under your video.
- Adjust and export. Move a line, change a word, add subtitles, and export an MP4.
The voices run on your Mac
StageMaster uses Kokoro, an open voice model, and runs it on your Mac. You don't need an account, there is no fee per minute, and your script stays on your computer.
The voices speak American and British English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese. Hear them on the home page.
Tips for lines that sound natural
- Write the way you speak. Short sentences and common words.
- Spell numbers out. Write "thirty seconds", not "30 seconds". The voice reads words more naturally than digits.
- Leave room to breathe. Set a short gap between lines, so the voice doesn't rush.
- Say what the screen shows, while it shows it. Then the voice and the picture tell one story.
Want the recording made for you too? Your coding agent can write the clicks as well as the lines. See how.
Try it on your own app.
